Protecting and mindfully using natural resources is the need of the hour, and here at BIRKENSTOCK, we ensure we do just that.
• Cork which forms the base for our iconic footbed, is obtained from sustainable sources.
• Natural latex is harvested from rubber trees. Both these materials are highly durable, breathable, and elastic.
• Stabilizing these materials is jute, a renewable textile resource.
• 98% of the adhesives used to make a BIRKENSTOCK sandal are water soluble, and therefore, environment friendly.
• Other materials used to make the upper body and trims such as leather, wool felt, brass, and copper are also natural and sustainable.
Our goal is to give comfort, elegance, and a conscious footwear alternative to our patrons. For people with a vegan lifestyle, we have developed a material known as Birko-Flor®, a skin-friendly, tear-resistant and easy-care synthetic material that is used exclusively by BIRKENSTOCK.
